Day 1; Kilimanjaro Airport – Arusha

On your arrival at the Kilimanjaro International Airport you will be met by a Desire Africa Travel representative (your Spanish speaking guide) whom will assist you with your luggage and transfer you by road to Arusha. The afternoon can be spend at leisure and you will spend the night at the Arumeru River Lodge.

Located just 35 minutes from Kilimanjaro Airport our Lodge is the ideal base for your Safari. For those who are planning to climb Kilimanjaro the Lodge is a perfect starting point as well. We’ll store your luggage whileyou are climbing and wait for youwith a cold beer, a hot shower, laundry service, and maybe a massage when you return.

Day ONE and every moment is already loaded with fascinating impressions of what will become your dream vacation in Tanzania. Dreamlike Tropical GardensOur garden is home to many Dikdiks, the smallest antelopes in Africa. These cute little animals can be observed at close range. Enjoy your first "wildlife encounter” by just walking in our tropical garden. Together with our guests we have produced a list of birds that can be observed in the Lodge garden. Wine & Dine at ArumeruOur philosophy in the kitchen is to combine the freshness of local Tanzanian ingredients with international recipes. Our Head Chef comes from Zanzibar and will spoil you with all flavors of this famous spice island. The wine menu is based on only 25 carefully selected South African wines. We have recently added wines of "Spier” a top vinery in Stellenbosch that has been selling to hotels in Tanzania since 2014. Our 21 spacious garden rooms (25 sqm) are nested in a tropical park that is famous for its botanical specimens. All rooms are tastefully decorated and permanently kept in mint condition. From your private terrace you can watch small Dik Dik Antelopes roaming freely between the garden chalets.

Day 2: 01 August 2015 Arusha – Tarangire National Park

In the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel and after an approximately 2-hour drive you will reach the Tarangire National Park. As you enter the park, your guide will open up the roof for your better viewing experience. The landscape is made up of seasonal marshes and a seemingly endless tree savannah with its mighty baobab trees. The park is home to the largest elephant herds in the north of Tanzania. After an extensive game drive you will leave the park and you will spend the night at Tarangire Safari Lodge (inside the park).



Tarangire Safari Lodge is situated on a panoramic bluff in Tarangire National Park, with one of Tanzania's most spectacular views, encompassing acacias and baobabs, plentiful wildlife and the Tarangire river. Game drives within Tarangire National Park are a year-round wildlife spectacle! The river flows through the park andis a magnet for wildlife, especially large populations of elephant. The park also contains varied and contrasting landscapes and unrivalled birdlife. The lodge was the first to be built in the park. Since 1985, it has been owned and managed by the Simonson family, who have added a very personal touch. At the heart of the lodge are the impressively high thatched roofs of the lounge and dining area. The open design allows for an uninterrupted landscape view and captures the cooling breeze. Between game viewing excursions,relax in our large, comfortable lounge. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the pool, browse in the Baobab Boutique, or unwind with a relaxing massage at our Patulivu massage banda Our main facilities, including three tents, are wheelchair accessible.

Accommodation choices are either atraditional canvas tent or a roomy stone bungalow, with all rooms having a direct valley view.

The Tents

Our tents are sturdy and comfortable - built on a solid base, with a thatched roof and verandah, screened windows with large curtains and en-suite bathrooms with solar heated showers. All our tents have been recently refurbished with new textiles and ten tents have double beds.

The bungalows

Our five bungalows are built from local stone in the circular style of Maasai huts. The thick walls, large windows and thatched roofs ensure that they remain cool. We have five bungalows suited as triples or family units. All the beds have mosquito nets. Our spacious en-suite bathrooms include a large shower and plenty of solar heated water. Each bungalow has a shaded verandah allowing for comfortable viewing of a large water hole.


Power for the rooms is provided from 6am - 10am and 6pm - 11pm. Recharging facilities are available during this time and the "charging station" is foundat our main bar. With power off at 11pm wekindlyrequest guests to make sure that any device they might need during the night is battery powered.

Day 3 Tarangire Region – Lake Manyara National Park – Ngorongoro Conservancy

After breakfast you will make your way to the Lake Manyara National Park. This small park finds itself between the Rift Valley's western escarpment and the shallow alkaline Lake Manyara. It is perhaps best known for its flamingos, pelicans and cormorants but it is also home to over 400 other species of birds, making it a paradise for ornithologists. Apart from a great variety of birds, mammals in the park include wildebeests, zebras, bushbucks, waterbucks, tiny Kirk's dik-diks, hippos, giraffes, leopards, lions, baboons and troops of noisy blue monkeys and guenons. The extensive game drive in the park will be done in a safari vehicle with a pop-up roof and from this vantage point, you will be able to absorb the sight and sounds of nature. In the afternoon, you will leave the national park and you will drive to the Ngorongoro Crater, where you will spend the night at the Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge. http://sopalodges.com/ngorongoro-sopa-lodge/overview

Day 4 Ngorongoro Crater – Lake Manyara Region

Today you will drive into the Ngorongoro Crater. Grass steppes and acacia forests are home to almost all the species of animals found in the East African savannah. In only a few hours, you have the chance of spotting the big five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. After extensive game viewing and a picnic in the crater, you will leave the highlands of Ngorongoro in the afternoon and travel back to the escarpment overlooking the Lake Manyara. You will spend the night at the Kirurumu Manyara Lodge.

Day 5 Lake Manyara Region – Serengeti National Park

Today your Spanish driver/guide will take you to the Lake Manyara airstrip from where you will say goodbye to the guide and then fly with Air Excel at 09:00h to the Serengeti. Upon your arrival at 09H50, at the Lobo airstrip at you will be transferred to the Serengeti Migration Camp. The Serengeti Migration Camp will be your base for the next couple of days and from here you will explore the fascinating nature & wildlife of the Serengeti National Park. Animals such as elephants, buffaloes, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, topi, Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles and many more can be seen in this area of the Serengeti. The Serengeti is also home to the largest animal migration on the planet. You will spend the next couple of days at the Serengeti Migration Camp, which is located in the Lobo Area of the Serengeti.

You are booked on the Game Package, which is 2 game drives per day, or either a full day out with picnic lunch. At Migration Camp soft drinks are included and selected local brand drinks.

Day 6 – 7 Serengeti National Park

These two days are dedicated for game viewing in the Serengeti National Park. During the short rainy season in November and December the herds move from the hills in the north to the plains in the south. During the longer rainy season from April to June they return up north. As the migration is completely dependent on the yearly rainfalls, the location of the herds may vary from year to year but your guide will know where to locate the animals and where to see them best.You will continue to stay at the Serengeti Migration Camp.

Day 8 Serengeti National Park – Arusha

After breakfast, you will be taken back to the Lobo airstrip from where you will fly with Coastal Aviation at 09:55h back to Arusha. On your arrival in Arusha at approx. 12:10h you will be transferred to the Arumeru River lodge, where you will spend another night.

Day 9 Arusha – Kilimanjaro Airport

After breakfast at the hotel you will be transferred back to the Kilimanjaro Airport from where you can continue with your own travel plans.

All package prices and tours are quoted and sold subject to our standard terms and conditions. It is accepted that once a request for a booking is made in writing that you have read and understood our terms and conditions.

Quotations are based upon the exchange rate valid at the time that they are sent and all prices are subject to currency fluctuations as well airfare and airport tax increases.

DesireAfrica Travel will require a 20% non-refundable deposit immediately upon confirmation of a booking to guarantee the booking. The balance will be due no later than 45 days prior to travel date. Full payment will be required for all travel taking place within 45 days of departure. DesireAfrica Travel work with third parties whose payment terms may differ to ours and in which case additional deposits and payments may be required and will be advised at the time of booking.

Paying a deposit guarantees the booking however it does not guarantee the package price and the rate of exchange which are subject to change until the invoice is paid in full. Paying the invoice in full will guarantee the price as well as provide protection against rate of exchange fluctuations as well as airfare and airport tax increases.

All package prices are quoted as a cash price and payment by cash and/or EFT transfers deposited directly into the nominated bank account are accepted forms of payment. Payments by credit card or any other form of payment are on request basis.

Neither DesireAfrica Travel nor any agents, staff and associates can be held responsible or liable for loss, damage or theft of personal luggage and belongings, nor can they be held liable for personal injury, accident or illness.

It is your responsibility to obtain valid travel documents including visas, passports as well as any other relevant documentation applicable before travel. DesireAfrica Travel will ensure that you are made aware of visa requirements and relevant documentation requirements before travel.

Passports must be valid for a minimum of 6 months from date of departure and there must be a minimum of 6 blank pages in the passport at the time of travel.

Travel insurance is highly recommended when travelling with DesireAfrica Travel. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are adequately insured for all events including but not restricted to illness, personal accident, cancellation, curtailment and loss or damage of luggage.

Malaria is a fact of life in some parts of Africa while certain countries may require proof of vaccination against certain tropical diseases such as Yellow fever before travel. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have sort the appropriate advice including relevant precautions, vaccinations and the relevant malaria prophylactics where required.
